GOJI – Chinese wolfberry, grade 160/50, 50 grams
Code: 4BL232/013Product detailed description
Goji — Chinese Wolfberry, Premium Quality 160/50
Large, Freshly Dried Goji Berries of Exceptional Quality
These are not supermarket goji berries. This is a carefully selected batch of large, naturally dried Chinese wolfberry(Lycium barbarum) fruits, graded at approximately 160 fruits per 50 g — a recognised quality benchmark in the goji trade that tells you exactly what you are getting before you open the bag.
🔴 How to Read Goji Quality — and Why It Matters
Not all goji berries are equal. When buying goji, always check:
- The quality fraction — expressed as number of fruits per 50 g. The lower the number, the larger the individual fruits. Our grade: ~160/50.
- Colour — quality dried goji is a deep, rich red, sometimes with a very slight brownish tint. Intensely bright, uniform red berries are likely artificially coloured. Brown berries are old. Berries that are very sticky have been poorly dried.
- Size — quality fruits measure 1 to 2 cm. Anything consistently below 1 cm indicates lower-grade material.
🌿 Nutritional Profile
Goji berries are one of the most nutrient-dense dried fruits available:
- Vitamin C — note that vitamin C in goji is released more effectively at higher temperatures; we recommend pouring boiling water over the berries or simmering them briefly rather than eating them cold.
- Antioxidants — a rich source of carotenoids and flavonoids that help protect cells from oxidative stress.
- 18 amino acids — including all essential amino acids.
- 21 trace elements — including zinc, iron, selenium, and copper.
- Vitamins B1, B2, B6 and E.
In traditional Chinese medicine, goji has been used for centuries as a daily tonic to support vitality and long-term well-being.
💧 How to Use
- Before use: Rinse lightly under lukewarm water.
- Best method: Simmer 3–10 berries in water for a few minutes, then eat the berries and drink the liquid. Excellent combined with ginseng root for a traditional tonic preparation.
- Tincture: Ideal for macerating in alcohol together with a whole ginseng root — a classic combination in East Asian herbal tradition.
- Cold use: Can also be added to muesli, yoghurt, or eaten as a snack, though hot preparation releases more of the vitamin C content.
